Carly Rae Jepsen’s Emotion is, without a doubt, the best pop album I’ve heard since Taylor Swift’s world-conquering 1989 from last year, and one of the best albums I’ve heard in 2015—period. My favorite cut from the album is still its sugar-rush first single “I Really Like You”, and it’s got a new, percussive power-up thanks to Bleachers (who actually worked on some of the best tracks on 1989).
Turns out Bleachers, aka Jack Antonoff, and Jepsen were in the studio for a while, recording (a surely exaggerated) 250 songs for Emotion. None of them made the cut. That seems a little strange, considering how well they sound together on this remix.

Emotion is out August 21.
