Cut Copy – “Need You Now”

The release date of Cut Copy's third proper, Zonoscope, is drawing nearer, and after hearing three glimpses of the record, it seems safe to say that it's going to be absolutely splendid. The record's opener, “Need You Now” has just leaked, and it only affirms this notion.

“Need You Now” is their lengthiest track to date, building on the new wave revival that's been very much the fad these days, merged with the group's synth and electro pop aesthetic. Its dreamy ambiance is exaggerated by a pulsating beat and a disco pop infrastructure that only this Melbourne ensemble can craft. Dan Whitford's falsetto literally sparkles and glistens as the beat gets louder and more vivacious. At over six minutes long, it seems to go by in a heartbeat. Zonoscope! Out February 8th.
