Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - "Fire & Water"

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is a functionally ten-piece band with a magnetic live show and a fascinatingly unique sound – like days gone by, like driving in a yellow van under a huge blue sky, like walking through canyons – and, rightfully, they’ve started to pick up lots of attention. In a recent iTunes session, they recorded a version of a new song called “Fire and Water,” and it’s everything you probably love about this band. Jade Castrinos’ voice, as usual, absolutely evades comparison of any kind (sometimes she sounds like a female Hamilton Leithauser, but not all the time – that’s the best I can do) and the band backs her up with alt-country guitar and wailing horns. You will love this song. Press play.
