At the 2013 TIME 100 gala, Frank Ocean told MTV that he had been “bingeing” on The Beatles and The Beach Boys for inspiration for what would eventually become Endless and Blonde. I’ve already written that Endless reminds me of Brian Wilson’s Smile in structure and spirit, and Blonde’s late LP track “White Ferrari” samples the Fab Four’s “Here, There, Everywhere” and “In My Life”. But what of the other music that has influenced Frank since releasing Channel Orange (and likely, long before that)? Let’s check out a list of his favorite songs, from the real glitter boy himself.
