Lana Del Rey’s new album Lust for Life is out — listen

Still from Lana Del Rey Lust for Life Album Trailer

Lana Del Rey has released the follow-up to her weakest album, Honeymoon (2015). Lust for Life is an improvement and also her most star-studded album to date, featuring luminaries like Stevie Nicks, Sean Ono Lennon, The Weeknd, ASAP Rocky and Playboi Carti. Finally, an album that marries Stevie Nicks’ pastoral majesty and Playboi Carti’s cartoonish nihilism!

The LP even features some of the most Lana Del Rey-sounding song titles in history, including “Summer Bummer”, “White Mustang”, “Coachella — Woodstock in My Mind”, and, of course, “God Bless America — And All the Beautiful Women in It”.

It’s also well worth a listen. Kicks off strong (“Love” is still so exquisite), then a somewhat flabby middle (Rocky and Carti’s nihilism feel generic in the LDR oeuvre), but the final third is uniformly excellent and rivals Ultraviolence.
