Ms. Lauryn Hill shares her third contribution—out of six!—to Nina Revisited..., the tribute album accompanying Netflix’s new Nina Simone documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone? We’ve already heard Ms. Hill cover Simone’s iconic “Feeling Good” and then sample “I’ve Got Life”

Today she shares another cover, this time of the lovely Appalachian folksong “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair”, which Simone brought back to the public consciousness with 1959’s Nina Simone at Town Hall. The sound would remain a favorite of Simone’s; she would record it again in 1966 (Wild is the Wind) and 1970 (Black Gold).
