Chances are that you haven't heard of Chicago-born, LA producers Christian Rich, but you've actually been bumping their tunes for the past few years. Under the tutelage of Pharrell Williams and N.E.R.D., Christian Rich have handled production for some of the preeminent members of today's hip hop industry, including J. Cole, Drake (they produced "Pound Cake" from Nothing Was the Same), Childish Gambino, and Lupe Fiasco. They also are responsible for four of the fifteen tracks on Earl Sweatshirt's excellent Doris.
Consisting of Nigerian-born twin brothers Taiwo Hassan and Kehinde Hassan, the production duo are now ready to step to the stage with their own brand of music. Their debut single, "Better To," sounds nothing like you'd expect, considering the roster of musicians they've worked with, having more in common with French house/disco than anything remotely concerning hip hop. They enlist LA band DWNTWN and the Now Faith Apostolic Church Children's Choir to provide the vocals. Listen to "Better to" below; the brothers' debut EP, SS14, drops on July 7th via Lucky Number.
