Listen: Viet Cong - "Continental Shelf"

viet cong

If you recall my March updates from SXSW, you may recall my truly obsessive adoration for Viet Cong, the Calgary-based post-punk band that counts Matt Flegel and Mike Wallace of Women among its members - they played two of the best sets I saw, mostly composed of brand-new material not featured on the short cassette EP Mexican Summer re-released this year. Now they've announced they'll release a full-length, self-titled LP early next year that'll likely include all that material and that includes this song, "Continental Shelf," a swarming, distortion-heavy cut with a killer rhythm section. You'll have no trouble putting it on repeat while you wait for the rest of the record, out January 20th of 2015. Check it out below, then peruse the tracklist.

Plus, because I care about you, watch this video of another unreleased track, shot live in Ottawa for City Slang Radio, and featuring a front-row cameo from a very into-it Mac DeMarco:
