At the beginning of 2014, we learned that melancholic lo-fi folk crooner Willis Earl Beal was leaving his label, XL Recordings (through which he released 2013's Nobody Knows and 2012's Acousmatic Sorcery) to self-release his upcoming new record, Experiments in Time via DIY website CDBaby. We have now the first taste of the new record with "Traveling Eyes," a burning, acoustic affair that relies solely on his vocals and a dainty, presumably, rustic guitar. Straight up Earl. Hear it below; Experiments in Time is out on August 8th.
