Everyone’s favorite endearingly un-Googleable San Francisco band Girls may have released Father, Son, Holy Ghost just recently, but they’re not taking a break just yet. Purportedly as a gift to its namesake, the band recorded and will soon release a song called “Lawrence” on heart-shaped vinyl (we don’t know how that works either).
It’ll initially strike you as a weird one in the Girls oeuvre – it’s almost completely instrumental but for some backround “oohs” and “ahhs,” the band employ a couple flutes – but with a little listening, it’s just as instantly loveable. An instrumental track really allows the band to impressively flex their metaphorical muscles: the guitar interplay is really mesmerizing; you’ll be glad Christopher Owens deigned not to sing on this one. Give it a listen.
