Say what you will about the YA novel adaptations that have swept Hollywood over the last decade or so, but it's hard not to like their soundtrack efforts. Case in point: because of the new Divergent/Insurgent movie that's out this month, HAIM got in the studio with fucking M83 to record a gorgeous, 70mm widescreen piece. This isn't the first time M83 has contributed a song to the Divergent series, last year he put on the similarly expansive "I Need You." This also isn't the first time the music supervisors at Divergent have put two of your favorite bands together; last year's soundtrack featured collaborations between Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala, Chance the Rapper and Clams Casino, and A$AP Rocky and Gesaffelstein. Clearly, things aren't slowing down with the Insurgent soundtrack; on top of this M83/HAIM collab, we have a joint track from Lykke Li and Woodkid, as well as some original songs from SOHN, Royal Blood and a few others, to look forward to.
The Insurgent soundtrack is out March 17, the film hits theaters March 20.
