Pusha T’s latest single “Body Work” is, unfortunately, not a The-Dream cover. It does, however, boast a formidable list of collaborators – Juicy J, Meek Mill, and French Montana all show up to drop a verse.
The boys show off some pretty impressive rhymes for the most part (though the FCC edit is more than a little distracting), but can we please declare a moratorium on all group rap songs featuring any kind of beat rooted in piano scales? That double bass backbeat and chorus organ drone was old in 2007. Pusha and his guests might be lyrically original, but they’ll have to deliver over some more innovative beats before we’re truly impressed. Take a listen and see what we mean.
