Oneohtrix Point Never - "Music for Steamed Rocks"
Fresh off one of the best records of 2013 (R Plus Seven) and one of the most endearing performance art projects of 2014 (live tweeting Billy Corgan's eight-hour Siddartha-inspired synth jam), Oneohtrix Point Never's gearing up for a Record Store Day release called Commissions I. Here's our first taste from it, "Music for Steamed Rocks," his reinterpretation of Witold Lutoslawski's 1972 Preludes for a string orchestra. Even if you aren't familiar with the original, bask in seven and a half minutes of OPN's gentle manipulation of vocal sounds, droning strings, and other, weirder tones. Check it out.
