REC'D: Jamie Woon - "Lady Luck" / "Nigh Air"

Jamie Woon

Look out James Blake and Jamie xx, there's a new Brit with swagger that's got a knack for combining soul with the prominent emerging bass trend coming out of the UK. His name is Jamie Woon; he first got noticed last year with his Burial co-produced "Night Air" and his EP by the same name. The singer/songwriter has just released the first official single from his forthcoming debut, Mirrorwriting, and it's honestly one of the dirtiest tunes we've heard this year.

"Lady Luck" is a bit more r&b than the other current post-dubstep cuts we've been hearing this year, focusing on Woon's exquisite voice as much as it does on the oscillating bass vibes.

There's also a video of him singing the song on a canoe in Cambodia, no, not a music video, just him traveling on a canoe singing a capella. Mirrorwriting comes out April 4th.
