REC'D: La Roux, "Uptight Downtown"

Hear the latest from Elly Jackson, and also, take in a Prins Thomas remix of "Let Me Down Gently"

Ever since La Roux announced that she'd be putting out her long-awaited followup to her eponymous 2009 debut, we've been feverishly waiting for new music from the U.K. electro-pop singer/songwriter also known as Elly Jackson. With "Let Me Down Gently" we were finally able to hear her smooth vocal stylings once again, though it wasn't as outright poppy or upbeat as its predecessors.

With her latest, "Uptight Downtown," debuted on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 Show, however, Jackson brings us an anthem you can chant and sing along with as you march proudly uptight, and downtown. In her fierce, ecstatic demeanor, accentuated by her delightfully charming crooning, it's everything you wanted and more from a new La Roux track: pure pop magic. Check it out below, and also, hear a rather kick-ass remix of "Let Me Down Gently" constructed by Prins Thomas.

Trouble in Paradise is out July 8th in the U.S. via Cherrytree/Interscope and on July 7th in the UK via Polydor.
