The National have been keeping busy. One would think that the success of last year's powerful High Violet (and PMA's number one album of 2010) would let them relax a little, but the New York powerhouse have been releasing song after new song, whether it be for the soundtrack for Tom McCarthy's new film or the upcoming video game Portal 2. Their latest is in promotion for the latter, another tortured, piano riddled ballad that's so insanely harmony-induced you'd think it's on steroids.
“Exile Vilify” is straight up National: grand and slow building, violin strings moving along to Matt Berninger's powerful baritone, captivating you at every possible moment as the piano chords intensify. Another stone cold testament to why The National is one of the best bands in the making music today. Listen to “Exile Vilify” below and get blown away.
