Of course the song we're trying so hard to hate turns out to be one of the catchiest we've heard in a long time.
Rihanna's "Nobodies Business"––featuring her unlovable little buddy, Chris Brown––is bouncy and light and (perhaps excessively) relies on a Michael Jackson classic. But leaning heavily on superior songs has worked out quite well for Rihanna in the past: there was the sugar-rush early single "SOS" which smartly recycled the pop goodness of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love," and more recently she and Drake opened mainstream audiences to Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx's "I'll Take Care Of You." We really don't see a reason why she won't reap the benefits of this eco-friendly approach to pop music once again. But we can think of a couple reasons why she shouldn't.
Unapologetic is out November 19.
