New York-based School of Seven Bells have announced the follow-up to 2012's Ghostory, the last album they recorded before guitarist/producer Benjamin Curtis was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphatic cancer. He lost the battle to the disease last December. The band has now revealed that Curtis was able to record all of his parts for the new record in early 2013, even during chemotherapy treatment, and that it will feature his vocals. No other details have emerged yet.
The announcement comes a day after the band released their cover of Joey Ramone's "I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)," which Curtis recorded/produced in his hospital bed. Ramone, the iconic vocalist of the Ramones, also died tragically of lymphoma. Stream the band's cover below, or head here to watch the music video bandmate Alejandra Deheza put together, alongside directors Toby Halbrooks and Alan Del Rio Ortiz, as a homage to Curtis.
