New: Sun Kil Moon - "Track Number 8"

Sun Kil Moon mastermind Mark Kozelek isn’t messing around – the fifth studio album from his pseudo-solo project, Among the Leaves, will drop in May, and we’ve already heard two of the record’s seventeen excellently titled offerings, “Sunshine in Chicago” and now “Track Number 8,” which is actually track #11.

This one’s got a kind of percolating, vaguely menacing flamenco-style guitar that backs up Kozelek’s smooth, chilly croon, as he details in his customary poetic, ironic way the trials and tribulations of songwriting. It sounds like something you might hear in the dark and smoke of a small-town saloon in the middle of the night – cold, haunting, and beautiful. Check it out.
