REC'D: The Drums - "Down By The Water" (HURTS Remix)


Brooklyn foursome the Drums had a big year – their June self-titled debut received widespread acclaim for its surfy, poppy jams. The record’s biggest, most emphatic songs, “Down By the Water,” has been around for a while – it appeared on the band’s initial EP Summertime. British synth-pop duo Hurts turned in a remix of that song to provide a b-side for the Drums’ upcoming “Me and the Moon” single. Cranking up the drums and the soaring synthesized strings over the original’s tender surf guitar, Hurts made “Down By the Water” into an anthem as magnificent as the original. Listen to it below:
