The National - "Wake Up Your Saints"



New York rockers The National might have released their best record yet with this year's triumphant High Violet; in an effort to promote what will assuredly go down as one of the albums of the year, the band has just released an expanded edition they've dubbed High Violet 2.0, which includes four new songs, B-sides and live versions of “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” “Anyone's Ghost” and “England.” One of the new tracks, “Wake Up Your Saints” might possibly be the most upbeat song the band has released in years, applying an uproarious use of brass instruments and jazz piano to accompany Berninger's signature baritone.

The trio was performing it live before High Violet came out in May, one would assume it didn't make the final cut due to its cordial demeanor. As a song on its own, its as audibly pleasant as anything the've released this year. Give it a listen below:
