If anyone would condense Syracuse orchestral indie-poppers Ra Ra Riot’s excellent second record The Orchardinto one song, it might be The Antlers’ Peter Silberman, a man who bedroom-crafted one of 2009’s most heartwrenching and expressive records out of billowing clouds and expansive forests of electronic noise. Taking snippets from each of The Orchard's nine songs, Silberman crafts something that seems totally foreign (the only bit I could trace back to its source was Wes Miles’ pitch-shifted-beyond-recognition “I don’t understand it!” from “Too Dramatic”) but just as warm, symphonic, and tuneful.
