Waxahatchee Streams New LP, Ivy Tripp

In a Q&A with Spin magazine, Katie Crutchfield (who records as Waxahatchee) said she wanted to push back against the favorable comparisons to Liz Phair, Juliana Hatfield, and other female mid-90s indie songwriters her 2013 LP, Cerulean Salt earned her. We're not entirely sure she's succeeded in shrugging off the shadow of her musical antecedents with new LP Ivy Tripp — but that's okay! Like Cerulean Salt, and American Weekend before it, the songs on Ivy Tripp are beautiful and fully realized. It might be her best yet.
