After years of white noise and triumphant SNL appearances and hit-and-miss film projects, Justin Timberlake has had a busy time in 2013. The 20/20 Experience is not only one of our favorite albums of the year, but it's also the best selling 2013 album in the world. It'd make sense for JT to pace himself and reap the rewards of having a critical and commercial success, but obviously he isn't stopping there.
In a new clip released today — just days after releasing his R-rated video for single du jour "Tunnel Vision" — JT proudly announces his new single, "Take Back The Night," which heralds The 20/20 Experience Part 2, his second album of the year. The album is due September 30th, though we can expect a full version of "Take Back The Night" long before that.
Until then, listen to the short clip previewed in the minute-long video below:
In related JT news, the man was recently featured on the two best songs off of Jay-Z's slightly disappointing Magna Carta Holy Grail — including the first single, "Holy Grail." Listen to it here.
And in Hollywood-y JT news, he's got a supporting role in the Coen Brothers' Cannes-darling Inside Llewyn Davis, a film that follows an unlucky folk singer trying to catch a break in New York's Greenwhich Village folk scene in the 1960s. The film stars Oscar Isaac (Drive) as the titular Llewyn Davis, Carey Mulligan (Drive, Great Gatsby, An Education) as his really pissed off ex, John Goodman as a slimy label exec and Justin Timberlake as a handsome folk singer enjoying moderate success. The film is out around Christmas. Watch the trailer below:
And in another trailer, you can listen to Oscar Isaac and Marcus Mumford (of Mumford & Sons) cover "Dink's Song."
