Sampha's long awaited debut album Process is finally out on February 3, nearly seven years after making a splash on SBTRKT's 2010 debut single "Break Off". (He later co-wrote and produced several songs on SBTRKT’s self-titled LP.) In 2013, Sampha released his own EP, Dual. Last year, Sampha broke his years-long silence with two pretty singles, "Timmy's Prayer" and "Blood and Me". The bigger splash came however when he appeared on two of 2016's best albums, Kanye West's The Life of Pablo and Solange's A Seat at the Table.
Now Sampha has shared another track and video from Process called "(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano". A recent cover story at The Fader tells the song's origin story. "'No one knows me like the piano in my mother’s home', he sings on the stripped-back, heartbreakingly beautiful track," writes Ruth Saxelby. "He wrote it not long after he’d moved back to Morden to be with her in what would be her final months. He thinks she might’ve heard the song, but she was so sick towards the end, he’s not sure that it registered."
