The-Dream Shares Genesis, A Surprise Visual Album

Publish date:

After a long silence, The-Dream is suddenly very active. Over the holidays he shared IAMSAM, an eight-song Sam Cooke tribute album, and today he’s shared another album-length project. It’s called Genesis and its a 42-minute long short film that features 10 new songs—a visual album, if you will. It’s available exclusively (for now) on TIDAL

Here is how Genesis was described in a press release:

This visual art project was created to give fans a glimpse of my daily thoughts. I, along with my fans, are lovers of music and art, but to me those two worlds are one and the same. I can never fully explain what I see and what I hear separately, it must be fused into one. For instance you take a song like "Holy Grail"; when I wrote the music and the vocal for that record, I had a vision that came simultaneously with that record itself. I feel cheated when songs leave my heart without the vision intended.

TIDAL continues: “[Genesis] explores variations of [The-Dream’s] random dreams represented as symbols, the face of his soul, and the conflict within himself.”

Chances are a lot of you probably don’t have or want a TIDAL account, so check out the absolutely lovely IAMSAM below:
