This will be the fifth year in a row the Killers have released a Christmas song right at the start of the holidays. More so than previous holiday singles, “Boots” is very U2 sounding, a bit more like Brandon Flowers and his recent soft rock persuasion rather than Killers circa 2004.
The song and the accompanying video are heavily influenced with the spirit of giving and forgiveness. The video follows an elderly homeless man who, with the support of friendly passing individuals, raises enough money to buy gifts for his estranged family who he hasn't seen in years. Though you can sense the animosity between him and his daughter, she forgives and embraces him, an uplifting metaphor displaying what this season is truly all about, all while Flowers sings “So happy they found me, love was all around me, stomp my boots before I go back in.” Proceeds from “Boots,” the song and video, will go to the Product Red Charity.
